Henry "Philip" Ladd was born on October 14, 1943, in Christian County, Kentucky, to the late Henry Russell Ladd and Roberta Wilson Ladd. He was the eldest of ten children. On Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 6:32 a.m., Philip peacefully transitioned from this life at his residence. He received his early education at Rocky Ridge School and Dunbar School in Cadiz, Kentucky, and later attended Attucks High School in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. At an early age, Philip professed his faith in Christ and united with Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Cadiz, where he remained a member. Philip was a hardworking and dedicated man. He was the co-owner of Ladd & Sons Concrete, where he applied his skills in construction with pride. Alongside his trade, he was a devoted farmer and found joy in the simple pleasures of life-fishing, hunting, and spending meaningful time with his beloved family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Martha K. Ladd; four sons: Henry Philip (Wendy) Ladd II, Charlotte, NC, Melvin D. Ladd, Washington, DC Timothy S. Ladd, Carmel, IN, Dave K. Ladd, Cadiz, KY Four daughters: Paula M. Ladd, DuPage County, IL, Chelsea (Danny) Anderson, Clarksville, TN, Sonja D. Ladd, Cadiz, KY Shelley Baker-Ladd, Carmel, IN. He was the proud grandfather of thirteen grandchildren: Keionna (Jerome), Ashleigh (Blake), Jalin (Courtney), London, Paul, Sonny, Zachary, Deja, Devon, Sha'Diamond, Raven, and Emily; and a great-grandfather to Kamryn, Landon, Karmelo, Kailyn, Tay-Shawn, Oakland, Benton, Dewayne, Novah, and Jade. Philip is also survived by seven siblings and first cousin siblings Dr. Troy (Debra) Ladd Evelyn Baker, Simon Ladd, Michael Ladd, Rev. Keith (Barbara) Ladd, Marie (Charles) Civils, Rochelle (Michael) Bush, Roy (Brenda) Wimberley, Portia Mann, John (Rachel) Ladd, Dorothy, "Dot" (John) Hopson, Robert (Wilma) Redd, Julius Redd. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory and a devoted sister in love Mary Jones. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Dave K. Ingram-Gray, and two brothers, Hubert "Tater" Ladd, Kenneth Ladd and two first cousin brothers Ronald "Ronnie" Redd and Marion "Boobie" Redd. Philip's legacy of faith, family, and hard work will live on through all who knew and loved him.
